Description
Chad Twedt’s Cosmosis is 4-piano work that begins with a simple, dark, contemporary theme and progresses through peace and turmoil in the first half. The second half begins a dramatic two-page buildup toward a grand finale of triumph that lasts almost to the end.
The Soundcloud recording below is a complete computer rendering of the work.
Cosmosis is an extended ostinato that follows up on the style of Twedt’s shorter ostinato pieces that are found in Ostinato Suites Nos. 1 and 2. The ostinato occurs solely in Piano 4’s part. It is not a strict ostinato, as the ostinato morphs and is interrupted in some places.
Cosmosis was commissioned by the four-piano group Piano 4te in 2019, who also gave a world premiere performance of the work in 2020.
Included are four separate parts (8.5″ x 11″, matte covers) and a full, small-print study score (8.5″ x 11″, glossy cover).
