Description
Chad Twedt’s 9/11 Portrait is a solo piano work of extreme emotional intensity that both memorializes and copes with the terrible horror and loss suffered on September 11, 2001.
Audio preview of all three movements:
“Fall of the Twin Giants” is written with a “Taliban” flavor, and etched in the piece is a clear depiction of the collapsing buildings and the terror that followed. “Love’s Labor Lost” portrays the sadness of losing a loved one in the attack, and “Prayer” was written with the hope that history would show the attacks strengthened, rather than weakened, our country.
Chad Twedt was awarded the 2005 Nevada Arts Council Fellowship Grant for the composing of this and other works. The NAC Fellowship Grant is a $5,000 grant that is awarded each year based on uniqueness and quality of work.
